He Opened My Eyes to the Meaning of His Love

Because of human nature, because love is based so heavily on conditions, because this world has distorted and contorted the meaning of love, it becomes so hard for us as humans to accept the love of Christ. We base our understanding and definition of God’s love on what we know and have seen with our interactions with our family, friends, role models we look up to, etc. But this is one of the many beauties of God’s love, when we forsake Him, when we pursue our own ambitions that are in total contradiction to His will, when we willfully disobey Him as He clearly calls us back to Him…He’s standing there waiting. He’s waiting with open arms until we return back to Him. He won’t force Himself upon us because we are not mindless robots. We are humans who are capable of making a decision. We are humans who possess a free will.

But you have to realize something, as you pursue your own fleshly desires, God’s heart is literally breaking at how your living and wasting your life. He says to you, “Child, I wish not for you to pursue your own desires because I’m a God of rules and restrictions, but because I love you so much.” In 2 Corinthians 12:15, Paul says how he gladly spends himself and all he has for the Corinthians even though it seems as though the more he loves them, the less they love him. God expends all He has on us because He loves us so much! He showed this love by giving all that He had! He gave away the most valuable thing on our behalf so that we can be reunited with Him again: Christ. Even as we turned away from Him and loved him less and less, His love for us was and is abounding. His love for us is limitless. His love for us is like a waterfall with no depth.
